I use Zep Commercial drain opener liquid and forgot to rinse now my bath tub drain is completely closed. HELP?
Does anyone has any idea how to fix this? I already tried hot water and a different brand of drain opener but it doesn’t seem to work. The water is not going down…well it takes about half an hour for 1 gallon =(
Call a plumber and have them snake it. They run a tool called a snake down the drain all the way to the street if necessary.
You will definitely need to call a plumber to snake it out now. (That is, unless you have a plumbers snake and you know how to do it. )
You may try to look right under the drain screen for a hair ball build up. You can sometimes remove this hair with a long tweezers or forceps. That’s what was wrong with my drain. I removed the hair, and everything works great!
I think the other answers are right, but if it were me, I’d try a plumber’s friend (plunger) first. Wear eye protection and long sleeves/pants in case some of the drain cleaner splashes on you (not likely, but possible). In the future use that method or a snake to clear your drains – chemicals are not as effective, and often damage pipes, especially if used repeatedly.
You can buy an auger plunger and do it yourself. Just go to the main drain (usually in your laundry room or basement )
drain away. On the package of the auger will tell you how to use it. You can also go to about.com and it will explain this do it yourself project. Good Luck and I hope this help.
Drain cleaner has nothing to do with it.
Take the cover off the drain opening and get some needle nose pliers. You are going to start pulling out what resembles a small rodent from the drain. if this doesn’t work, remove the access panel from behind the tub, and open the trap. My guess is that you have a barrel type trap,( which can’t be snaked, by the way), and remove clog.
I think you will find out 2 things:
1) it was fairly easy although a pain in the butt
2)plumbers deserve the $95 for a service call
