Excavate those ditches well for your drain system
The purpose of drainage pipes is to expel the discharge coming out from the home and direct it into the septic or sewer tanks. Pipelines connecting houses to septic tanks include some inspection chambers so that you can check the status of the pipe or tackle a blockage without digging up the pipe. The system is supposed to keep itself clean and prevent the occurrence of any blockage. This goal can be attained only if you adopt the right construction gradients to allow water to flow through the system. It is UPVC tubing that is primarily employed. However testing is very important before the system can start functioning. This must be carried out between the inspection chambers.
Drainage pipes need to be laid down in channels dug in the earth. The average depth is three hundred to five hundred millimeters. Such sewer systems are enclosed in concrete when they pass below driveways, walkways or under a parking. The excavation should be done according to the requirements. The trenches have to be sloped towards the sewer or septic tank. The drop or slope is generally in the ratio of 1:4 to facilitate water flow in a controlled way. Proper packing, integrating and cramming of the trench base is usually done to provide a firm foundation. Pegs can be used to set accurate levels in the trench bottoms.
Maintaining straight lines is essential while laying down the drainage pipes. The pipes should be connected with sockets leading uphill or in the direction of the building. The system should lie on a solid and even ground. A good adhesive for the joints should be used for joining the male and female sockets. The adhesive pack comes with instructions, make sure they are strictly followed. Ensure that the pipe goes into the full wall thickness during connection to the various inspection chambers. Clean any debris from the pipes.
Inspect and scrutinise the drainage pipes while laying them. This is to make sure they are not perforated. The foundation must have socket recesses for it is incomplete without them. However they should not be too long. The inlet and outlet of the inspection chamber must be even and ordered. After completing all joints cover the system with soil. Connection is then made between the system and the septic tank or sewer. After this connect to the utilities to complete the drainage.
